During it's featured time, the REM-003 was produced in two encoding styles. The early version used a Motorola MC145026/145028 encoder/decoder chip set. If the part number on the encoder chip is MC145026 or MC145028 then the REM-003 is only compatible with the REM-004 (TX89). If the encoder chip inside the remote control has 8 pins (4 on each side) then the REM-003 is compatible with either another REM-003 or the REM-006.
