The ignition signal/supply comes directly from the wires from the ignition switch, this signal has three possible purposes.
- To signal the immobiliser that the engine is still running and not to start automatic arming countdown.
- Vehicle security systems source an alternate +12VDC from the ignition feed should the main power feed fuse blow.
- Immobilisation relays source power from the ignition signal to energise their coils (no longer the case on all Dynamco systems manufactured after Dec 1999).
To find the correct ignition signal :
- Ground test light to metal chassis.
- Switch ignition switch to ON position, this is the position where the dash lights normally come on.
- Probe wire from back of ignition switch.
- Begin checking when light comes on - test light must illuminate only when key is on ON position.
- Splice system ignition wire to vehicle ignition wire.
